2024 TSW MEMORIAL GOLF CLASSIC GENERATES MORE FUNDS FOR TYRONE'S WRESTLERS!
This year's TSW Memorial Golf Classic was a great success!! With a total of 136 returning and new golfers, as well as many prior sponsors and several new ones, we raised over $21,000, the most in the tournament's seven-year history. In spite of the intermittent showers, our dedicated volunteers and Stone Crew staff ignored the weather, focusing on making sure that everyone had a great time. Nick Krupke from KPTV was on hand to provide some much appreciated news coverage, and OCHS student Presley Zarfas began the program with her inspiring rendition of our national anthem. Players stayed hydrated on the course with beverages provided by West Linn's Willamette Ale and Ciderhouse and Oregon City's The Growler Run. Tasty brown bag lunches were available for the golfers to take with them in their carts and enjoy during play. A snack cart circulated with water and healthy snacks to help the golfers keep up their strength! On the course there were various contests, ranging from the putting contest to the long drive and KP. A vast array of spectacular donated raffle items enticed players to purchase chances to win. There were also outstanding prizes for the men's and women's long drive and KP contests. Dixon Golf was with us again offering a variety of chances to win more fantastic prizes and enjoy fun competition. We are especially grateful to Benchmade Knives for sponsoring the special engraved knives as prizes for the three winning teams. The first place team of Ed Netter, Zac Netter, Darren Monen, and Mitch Monen took home four Benchmade Mini Adamas knives. The 2nd place team composed of Dennis Neumann, Terry Neumann, Jonathan Neumann, and David Nigro were presented Bailout “Tanto” knives, and the third place team of Shandlin and Steve Jones, Pat Barnes, and Steve Skinner were each awarded SOCP fixed blade/sheath knives. Of special note, Dennis, Terry, and Jonathan Neumann are Tyrone's cousins. Each year, Dennis comes from Orlando, FL, to join his brother and nephew, who live locally, to play in the tournament. It is great to have family honoring Tyrone! In addition to the 34 participating teams, the support of the following loyal sponsors was integral to the huge success of the tournament. As you can, please show your appreciation for their support by patronizing them whenever possible.
Since 2015, we are proud to report that with local and national support, we have been able to award over $125,000 to these amazing young athletes. As a nonprofit, TSWWF achieves its goals because of the efforts of volunteers. No compensation has ever been paid to anyone. The financial assistance we provide covers various wrestling expenses such as apparel, travel, pay-to-play, training camps, and mats. We also fund two annual $2500 TSW Memorial Trophy scholarships for a senior boy and a girl, and six $500 honorable mention awards for excellence in wrestling, academics, and community service. The golf tournament proceeds will ensure that we can continue to help these young athletes participate in a sport that Tyrone loved so much and also award the annual special scholarships for the 2024-25 wrestling season. TSWWF remains firmly committed to honoring Tyrone's legacy as a warrior, a 1989 OSAA wrestling champion, an American Hero of Benghazi, a 2022 Congressional Gold Medal Awardee, and an inspiration to the American people and youth wrestlers as they pursue their dreams to become champions both on and off the mat. With your loyal support, we will be able to remain committed to providing the financial assistance needed so these kids can participate in this great character-building and challenging sport.
Next year's TSW Memorial Golf Classic is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, with a new start time of 8 a.m. Come support a great cause and enjoy a fun day of golf with friends and family at the winning Stone Creek Golf Club venue! We would love to have you join us.
